Home Remedies for Yeast InfectionOne of the most commonly recommended home remedies for yeast infection is yogurt. The consumption of yogurt containing Lactobacillus acidophilus is thought to help prevent or treat a yeast infection. Lactobacillus acidophilus is a type of beneficial bacteria that exists in a live culture inside the yogurt. It can help the body to better limit the growth of Candida albicans. Daily consumption of at least 8 ounces of yogurt containing Lactobacillus acidophilus is required to in order to reduce the presence of the yeast organisms and prevent a vaginal yeast infection. It has also been claimed that this practice can help to clear up a vaginal yeast infection. It probably is very helpful, although there does not seem to be any medical science study that would confirm this to be true. Instead of consuming yogurt, you can drink acidophilus milk or take acidophilus tablets. Some women have even recommended applying the yogurt directly to the afflicted area. This can be done using the yogurt with a douche or tampon. It is not really known just how effective this method is, and it is very controversial among medical specialists, many of whom are likely to discourage such a practice. If you do decide to use this home remedy, then make sure to get yogurt that is non-flavored and does not contain sugar or fruit. This is important. Yeast organisms thrive in sugar, so applying anything that contains sugar can even worsen your situation. Another home remedy that I have heard of involves using white vinegar douches. You have to concoct a solution from one tablespoon of white vinegar mixed with a single pint of water, and apply it to the vaginal area twice a day for a period of five to seven days. This home remedy is said to work because the white vinegar douches will increase the acidic level of the environment within the vaginal area, and thus cause the yeast organisms to begin dying off until they are back to a harmless number. Note that applying anything to the vaginal area may risk worsening the irritation. Home remedies can be effective for some women and not for others. Also, if you go for home treatment, you should be aware that there is a possibility that your condition may not be a yeast infection. In some cases, it may actually be a bacterial infection, which would require medical attention. To Be Continued Click Here To Read More
